How to install OpenSSL for Python

Question

I need to install OpenSSL on my python2.7.

I tried

$ pip install pyopenssl

System: Ubuntu 10.04

Solution

SSL development libraries have to be installed

CentOS:

$ yum install openssl-devel libffi-devel

Ubuntu:

$ apt-get install libssl-dev libffi-dev

OS X (with Homebrew installed):

$ brew install openssl
