Lotus Notes directory address book missing

In Notes 8.5.2 client, one of our users has this problem: Click NEW msg icon. On New Msg form, click To: hyperlink. In Select Addresses dialog box, in the Directory field, the server-based directory (e.g. MYCOMPANY address book) does NOT appear in the drop down list. Could someone pls give me a clue on how to fix that? Thanks!

Solution

There are a number of things to check. Is the user's Location set to 'Online'? If you edit the settings for the current location, what do you see on the on the Servers tab, particularly for the 'Home/mail server' and 'Directory server' fields? Can the user actually connect to the server(s) listed there?

^^^^^^THIS! The "File...Locations...Manage Locations...Online..." area was an undiscovered, unexplored world until rhsatrhs put me on to it. There was an extinct server named in the "Domino directory server" field; no wonder the client couldn't find a directory, Many thanks!
