Running a Screensaver over a dual-monitor setup

202

Solution 1

Ended up using Matrix KS. Thanks to @Psychoholic for the suggestion.

Solution 2

Electric sheep - amazing graphics, free, multi-monitor support.

Solution 3

UltraMon works for screensaver for multimonitor in windows 7!

change the screensaver to UltraMon and click Settings...

Ultramon will detect all your monitors and you change the screensaver for each screen.

I changed mine to Ribbons for all four monitors and it spans accorss each monitor as if it was just one!

Solution 4

this is probably an issue with your preferred screen saver. the default windows screen savers do work properly on multiple monitors. you might submit a bug report on Sourceforge to let the developer know that (at least in Windows 7) it does not support multiple monitors.

Solution 5

Most 3D applications can not span monitors due to limitations of the 3d card/driver. Switch to a 2d screen saver and you should be all set.

I am using XACML 3.0 I just want to know which is the best practices for separating the PEP and PDP instances. I have three scenarios here which one is best as per the cloud way of implementation.

    1. I have one instance of PEP which will communicate to multiple PDP instances.
    2. I have multiple PEP and multiple PDP instances which will communicate to each other.
    3. I have multiple PEP instances which will communicate to one PDP instance.

Seen this, does look awesome. If I can't get my screensaver to work then this is they way I'll go.

Matrix KS has long been my favorite Matrix-type screensaver. To get it to fill multiple monitors you need to fuss with the settings to specify your entire desktop resolution, but once that's done, it' quite nice.

I'll take a look at the screensaver suggested by Psychoholic below, and then I'll submit a report too. Good Idea, I didn't think of that.

@Psychoholic, you should have set that comment as an answer, then I would have accepted it. Downloaded, installed and works straight away.

Thanks David, so this means the best practise as per the cloud architecture is I can have multiple PEP points that will communicate with Load balancers and Load balancers will communicate to multiple PDP points.

Yes. I forgot to add that PDPs are stateless which is why you can load balance them so easily

Hi David if I don't want to introduce the load balancers in between PEP and PDP then how we can manage the communication between PEP and PDP

If you do not want to use server-side load balancing, you could always use client-side load balancing and configure PEPs with multiple PDP endpoints.
