Solution 1

You need to add mariadb dependency in pom.xml 

<dependency>
 <groupId>org.mariadb.jdbc</groupId>
 <artifactId>mariadb-java-client</artifactId>
 <version>1.5.7</version>
</dependency>

Solution 2

Try adding the Mariadb Dependency with the Version number like below:

    I have created a Spring Boot application to connect to MariaDB.

    The configuration works when I am using Spring Boot 1.5.6.Release but not with 2.1.0.Release

    Following the configuration:

    spring.datasource.url=jdbc:mariadb://localhost:3306/db
spring.datasource.username=root spring.datasource.password=password
spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=none
spring.datasource.driver-class-name=org.mariadb.jdbc.Driver
