Cups is always asking for password when printing on a certain printer

30,645

Since you say it's only one printer which is showing this behaviour, the error is likely to be in /etc/cups/printers.conf.

Check the authorization entry for the printer which is asking for passwords.

When I send print to a network printer (HP Laserjet 2200d), CUPS asks for username/password. It doesn't happen with other printers and I'm sure its a CUPS issue, because it's asking the password even if I'm not connected to the network.

    Here is my /etc/cups/cupsd.conf:

    #
    #
    # Sample configuration file for the CUPS scheduler. See "man cupsd.conf" for a
    # complete description of this file.

Since you say it's only one printer which is showing this behaviour, can you post /etc/cups/printers.conf since the error is likely to be in a parameter for just that printer.

You won! I've changed the authorization line in that file and all went ok! If you want, you can answer and I'll approve.

Find the printer and ensure this is the line related to authorization: AuthInfoRequired none
