How to format a booteable usb made by Startup Disk Creator
Solution 1
Install mkusb
sudo add-apt-repository universe
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mkusb
Run mkusb and select restore to a standard storage device
Solution 2
I found a solution.
- Open Disks from your dash
-
Select your pen drive
I took this picture after deleting the partitions
there will be 3 partitions.
Format the 1st partition by clicking the settings icon
- Delete the other 2 partitions by clicking the - (minus mark/dash)
- After that, format the whole pen drive again.
This will fix your problem.
Solution 3
Well I recommend to install GUI application gparted from the software center. Use this software to delete all the partitions you made in your USB and make it as a whole sole partition.
Note: GPARTED is a powerful application which requires root privileges to operate, so while formating if you choose your hard disk partition instead of USB for formating, then all your hard disk will be wiped off. So use it carefully if you are new to it.
Thats all.

Admin over 7 yearsNo, nothing to do with it. exfat* just provides support for the Microsoft proprietary exFAT file system, typical of 64GB+ flash drives. It has nothing to do with the reported problem .

Kitty over 7 yearsRight click, unlock it and delete all partitions before making new ones. For faster and better results install and use MKUSB (wipe menu).

TafT over 5 yearsYour answer could be improved by including more detail about the steps needed to remove or overwrite a partition table on a USB memory stick that has been through the Make Bootable Disk process. The warning is a good idea though.
