How to recreate a working AMI from recovery snapshot after Aug 8 outage?

Question

Inorder to check if an iFrame is currently open you can use:

if (window!=window.top) { /* I'm in a frame! */ }

But what if I want to get an alert when an iFrame opens? How can I allow JS to automatically detect an iFrame has been opened on the current page or inserted within the DOM?

Solution 1

I ran into the same problem when trying to duplicate a machine.

The problem turned out to be the kernel. Both when creating the AMI and the instance I selected default for the kernel image.

To resolve the problem, I recreated the AMI using the same kernel image as the original instance.

Could you try the following command (note -f option instead of --force): sudo fsck -f /dev/xvdg

fsck -f indeed does something more (don't know exactly what; man fsck doesn't say anything about it), so +1. But in any case this doesn't solve the whole problem; I created a snapshot and then an AMI from the fscked volume, and lauched an instance from that, and still get the same "Kernel panic ... Unable to mount root" error in System Log.

To clarify, the default kernel image lacks ext4 support, but the kernel that was used to build the AMI should always be used anyway.

If only the snapshot remains, it will be very hard to recover. Can you suggest a method to backup this kind of metadata (also, which security groups and user-data are used) with the snapshot or somewhere else?

When I run the code snippet within that codepaste it executes but there is no detection of an iFrame by using your code. If within the if statment I put Nicks code it works perfectly. If I use your try/catch it works but again through Nicks code.
