How do I reduce the size of icons on my Ubuntu (GNOME) desktop? All the icons are too big since I am using a 12.1" laptop so it looks horrible.

quack quixote about 14 yearsno need to open a terminal; type Alt+F2 to run the commandline, or just open one of the entries on the Places menu (Home Folder is a good choice). the Edit -> Preferences... directions are correct tho.
