Jackson Error : No such method com.fasterxml.jackson.core.JsonGenerator.setCurrentValue(Ljava/lang/Object;)V

Question

I am working on a Spring-MVC application and since morning I am getting the errors related to Jackson when I call a specific controller method. As there is no line specifically on which the error is, I looked up and found this to be a POM issue. I have only added Google and Dropbox dependencies since Friday, and this problem seems to be happening. I have already tried excluding Jackson-mapper, no luck.

I don't know which version of jackson your libraries require.

If they all require 1.9.x, then remove the dependency on Jackson2 and only leave the dependency on Jackson 2.

If they all depend on Jackson 2, then remove the dependency on Jackson 1.9 and leave the dependency on Jackson 2.

If some depend on Jackson 1 and some others depend on Jackson 1, then you'll have to remove one of these dependencies, because they're incompatible with each other.

Spring can use 1.x or 2.x, but not both at once.

The problem seems to be with the version of jackson versions used in the pom.xml.

Post the complete stack trace of the exception. One of the dependencies you added probably uses a more recent version of jackson (or at least a different one).

@JBNizet : Just posted the error log, you can always find the latest dependencies added on top. Now I am getting the same error for some other methods as well.

Your app is configured to use MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter. That converter is for Jackson 2.x. But you're using Jackson 1.9.13. Your pom adds both Jackson 1.9 and Jackson 2 as dependencies. That can't possibly work. It's one or the other.

It is generally a bad idea to mix different versions of a library. Use only Jackson 2.x and try to use the same version for the Google APIs.

@JBNizet : Done, I just removed the FasterXMl dependencies and used CodeHaus, it worked. As fasterXml was using version 2.X and codehaus was using 1.X. Please post your comment as an answer, so I can accept.
