How to restore content of page from the cache in Chrome?

Question

I want restore the page of the site I visited, but without internet connection. Is it possible in Chrome?

I can find a link and a title of the page in my history in Chrome (History button or Ctrl+H).

How can I get content of this page from cache? Or Chrome keeps only a page link with title without content?

I think content of the page should be kept also. But how can I get it?

I use last version 23.0.1271.97 of the Chrome.

chrome://cache/ lists the items that are cached. In Firefox, it's about:cache.

From there, you can search for .html sites.

Copy the URL to your omnibox, then open it.

Solution 2

In case you have Chromium forwarding to "chrome://view-http-cache/..." that doesnt show deflated page data you can try following approach for restoring a single file - be aware that dependent files (images, included scripts / css) wont be restored automatically.

In "chrome://view-http-cache/...":

1. hit "F12"
2. go to "Console"
3. copy/paste code below and hit enter

4. for chrome use the Download link to download a inflated file

I see now what you mean. I didn't know you had to paste the URL in the omnibox again. Which works – it shows the cached page without internet connection until you reload it. Maybe in the future you can be more specific? That way it's easier to understand what to do. Thanks!
